Tawang has been one of the centers of Tibetan Buddhism for many centuries. This is where the 6th Dalai Lama was born. This gilded statue of Padmasambhava is 5.5 meters tall. The monastery houses hundreds of Lamas and has a large collection of manuscripts, thangkas and sculptures. |

A twenty minute ferry ride from Guwahati will take you to Umananda Island, that houses a temple. The sculptures of Lord Ganesh have been carved on a rock just above the jetty on the island. |

As we returned back from Tawang towards Bomdila, we stopped for a break. The climb was taking us higher over the clouds and we could see a magnificent white bed in front of us. |
