Pangong Tso

The largest brackish lake in Asia at the altitude of 14,500 feet, the Pangong Tso on Indo-China Border is 140 Kms long and only one third of it is in India.

300 year old Hanle Palace
Location: Hanle
This 300 year old Hanle palace is now in a state of ruins, but it was once an important destination on the old caravan route. The Palace also houses a Gompa (monastery), which is worth a look for its old manuscripts and sculptures.

Hanle Observatories
Location: Hanle
The pair of observatories are the highest in the world at 15,000 feet. They are remotely operated from IIA (Indian Institute of Astrophysics) Bangalore, which is more than 3,500 kms away.
